EUSEEDS

2025- 2028

The EUSEEDS project (Enable, Upgrade and Spread Employability, Entrepreneurship, and Digital Skills of Eastern Mediterranean Youth through Dedicated University Centers) is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED program.

This ambitious project, led by AUF in Lebanon, aims to enhance the employability, entrepreneurial mindset, and digital competencies of young people in the Eastern Mediterranean. It plans to create or strengthen 20 university centres in five Eastern Mediterranean countries : Egypt, Cyprus, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine. These centres, equipped and trained by the project consortium, will sustainably provide training and services to students, as well as digital literacy training for vulnerable populations.

The goal is to prepare Mediterranean youth to face labor market challenges and to contribute actively to the region’s economic and social development.

It focuses on fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among youth and women, supporting the growth and development of SMEs, building the capacities of the business ecosystem, creating linkages to local and international markets, and advocating for policies that support the entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Seeds for the Future: Fostering Socioeconomic Empowerment of Women in Upper Egypt through Digital and Green Solutions Project 

The project aims to enhance the socio-economic empowerment, digital inclusion, and financial inclusion of women. The main goal is to enable women to engage in freelance and remote work opportunities in the digital/technological sector. This is tackled through enhancing their skills, creating an enabling environment, and providing them with relevant networks/opportunities. This contributes to boosting the employability skills of youth and women while contributing to the growth and development of the private sector and the creation of job opportunities. 

This project is funded by the European Union through the Spanish Cooperation in Egypt as part of the Women’s Empowerment Programme “Tamkeen.” Enroot is implementing this project component as part of its 100 Forsa Digital Empowerment Programme.

Enroot Impact Catalyst

2023 - Present

Enroot Impact Catalyst is implemented by Enroot as Impact Europe’s national partner in the framework of their regional programme “Impact Together!” funded by the European Union.

The project aims to create a robust ecosystem for impact investment in Upper Egypt through an acceleration program for small and medium enterprises, the creation of an investor network to promote their engagement with Upper Egyptian social entrepreneurs, capacity building programs for the social economy support ecosystem, and awareness-raising activities to highlight the potential of impact investment as a catalyst for driving sustainable economic development.

2023 - Present

Helmak – Promotion of Sustainable Economic and Social Alternatives Based on Tourism in Upper Egypt, with special attention to women and young people 

The project aims to develop the tourism sector by supporting youth and women entrepreneurs in developing innovative social businesses, integrating local products and services in tourism value chains, fostering the inclusion of women in the labor market, building the capacities of service providers to meet international standards, and promoting underserved tourist attractions.

Private Sector Promotion for the Agriculture Sector in Upper Egypt

2024 - Present

“Clime Up” Private Sector Promotion for the Agricultural Sector in Upper Egypt 

The project aims to enhance climate resilience and water-smart agriculture in Upper Egypt through private sector promotion and market system development. It focuses on improving  market access and finance of enterprises operating in the agribusiness sector, enhancing the socioeconomic conditions of small-holder farmers in Upper Egypt, promoting market linkages with international companies, and fostering climate resilience of agriculture value chains.

Enhanced Rural Incomes in Sohag through Market System Development

2020 - 2022

The project aimed to upgrade the loofah value chain in Tahta, Sohag, and empower the local community to utilise and capitalise on surrounding business opportunities. It supported the establishment of new businesses serving the value chain, fostered linkages between support organisations, built the productive capacities of facilities, and overall increased the aggregated value of the cluster. 

 

Results: 

  • 2,700 units/ feddan increase in Land Productivity 
  • 11 new business initiatives established 
  • 43% increase in the aggregated value of the cluster 
  • 7 partnerships established between NGOs 
  • 2 processing facilities received ISO Certifications
  • 80% increase in production capacity of facilities

Business Opportunity Mapping Studies

The BOMs are knowledge products that provide details of the governorate’s geographical landscape, its demographic and socioeconomic features, urban and key value chain analysis, and the implications of climate change on it. The BOMs utilize a market system development approach that highlights the potential opportunities and challenges in the predominant economic sectors. It informs and directs the design of capacity-building interventions and the creation of start-ups that address local market gaps, needs, and the real demand of the private sector.

Study

Market Scan of import barriers and processes to Egypt faced by Dutch Companies

The aim of the project is to compile a market scan that will provide Dutch companies with an overview of processes and main import procedures that they would undergo to export to Egypt. Specifically, the market scan will cover the following: ▪ Overview of the steps to enter the Egyptian market. ▪ How to deal with the customs authority and using the ACID system ▪ Overview of the registration phases on the ACID system to the stage of submitting the required documents for the target products ▪ Identify the potential challenges that might face Dutch companies to obtain import permits through governmental authorities. ▪ Analyze the potential obstacles that Dutch investors may encounter when attempting to establish their investments in Egypt. ▪ Overview of the potential market opportunities/prospects for biofertilizers and biopesticides within the Egyptian context."

InnoPA Operational guideline for Ta'heel platform

The goal of this study is to develop a comprehensive operational guideline for Ta'heel platform to serve as the cornerstone for the platform's operation. The guideline will outline clear procedures and seamless coordination between the involved ministries in the platform (Ministries of Social Solidarity, Communication and Information Technology, and the Ministry of Labor). Considering the above, the specific objectives of the proposed assignment are as follows: o Provide an overview of the procedures and processes utilized by the Ta’heel platform staff. o Identify the key stakeholders from both the private and public sectors. o Develop the necessary job descriptions for Personnel working in the Ta’heel platform.

Agricultural Value Chains Prioritization and Analysis - Agriculture Innovation Project (AIP):

A study that aimed to identify innovation areas for three crops in Upper Egypt in order to effectively promote them, as part of the AIP project. Divided into two phases, the first focused on medicinal and aromatic plants (MAPs), garlic, and other crops in Beni Suef and Minya. The second utilised a market system development approach for value chain analysis, identifying constraints, opportunities, capacities, and risks related to market actors. Key interventions focused on strengthening farmer organisations, boosting productivity through innovation, and establishing marketing linkages of potential public-private partnership opportunities.

Integrated Market System Assessment on Refugee and Host Community Livelihoods in Egypt

A project that aimed to understand the livelihoods of refugees, including economic and enterprise development opportunities, to identify intervention chances. Immediate, medium- and long-term recommendations for sustainable enterprise promotion among refugees and host community members in Greater Cairo, Alexandria, and Damietta were developed. These locations served as the base for creating strategies, concrete outcomes, and program interventions in the realm of building sustainable enterprises among refugees. The project included a socio-economic assessment, a longlisting of refugees' inclusive sectors, conducting sector scoring and selection, and a value chain analysis.

The AI Virtual Mentor features a learning platform that covers the essentials of starting a business and a chatbot that supports entrepreneurs in identifying local business opportunities, developing ideas, and creating structured business models. The E-Commerce Platform enables Upper Egyptian startups to sell their products online, offering a seamless solution for digital growth and success.
