About the Project

MASAAR, Enroot’s flagship program, is a market-driven initiative focused on fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among youth and women in Upper Egypt. It supports startups and emerging businesses by helping them develop, grow, and link with markets and extended value chains. The program also provides Small and Medium Enterprises with Business Development Services (BDS) and works to strengthen the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. Since 2018, MASAAR has delivered needs-based solutions based on diagnostic studies, market assessments, and value chain analyses, while building partnerships with international organizations and local governorate partners to ensure sustainable impact.

On June 5, 2024 Enroot Development held a vital panel discussion  with the aim of enhancing exports from Aswan and the southern governorates of Upper Egypt. The panel discussion titled "Policy Solutions: Fostering the Export Potential of Aswan’s Productive Clusters" aims to support state efforts in boosting exports and achieving sustainable development in Upper Egypt, in line with Egypt's Vision 2030. The event focused on proposing policy recommendations to enhance the competitiveness of production clusters in Aswan, enabling them to access more profitable international markets.

Enroot Development, in collaboration with the Saaed and Kayan Foundations and with funding from the Drosos Foundation, has successfully concluded a series of policy workshops aimed at offering proposals for amending Egypt’s Intellectual Property (IP) Law and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem. These workshops, part of the MASAAR project, brought together government officials, industry experts, and key stakeholders to provide actionable recommendations to improve Egypt’s export potential and foster the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

On September 12, 2024,   Enroot Development held an event titled “Empowering the South: Lessons Learned and the Way Forward” with participation from the Ministry of Local Development, representatives from the governorates of Aswan and Qena, and presidents of public universities in Upper Egypt. The event focused on celebrating the achievements and lessons learned from the MASAAR  project. which has been implemented in collaboration with the universities of Assiut, South Valley, and Aswan, and funded by the Drosos Foundation since 2020. It aims to support and enhance youth-led innovation for the economy in the governorates of Upper Egypt.
