The Research and Strategy Department:
The Research and Strategy Department plays a pivotal role in driving the strategic growth of the
company. It is responsible for the following:
• Research and Analysis: the department develops in-depth studies to inform the implementation of
socioeconomic development projects of Enroot and international organizations.
• Designing Interventions: The department contributes to the design of interventions of projects and
programs that aim towards the socioeconomic development of target groups or regions.
• Identifying new research approaches and methodologies: The department explores and adopts
innovative research methods to ensure the credibility of research findings.
• Supporting knowledge products and publications of Enroot: The department contributes to the
development of knowledge products and publications disseminated in the development sector and
across Enroot’s social media platforms to promote knowledge sharing.
Role of the Research Officer
Job Purpose
The Research Officer is responsible for conducting in-depth research and analysis on social and
economic development topics, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods. The role
includes supporting project planning and implementation, contributing to technical reports, and
identifying new research opportunities aligned with Enroot’s mission. The Research Officer is also
expected to have a foundational understanding of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) principles to
support project effectiveness and accountability.
Research and Analysis
• Conduct in-depth research on relevant social and economic development topics.
• Apply quantitative and qualitative primary research methods (in-depth interviews, focus groups, and
surveys) for research assignments.
• Analyze quantitative and qualitative data from primary and secondary sources.
• Support the development of technical reports and other project documents for research
assignments.
• Support research on new research approaches and methodologies that could be replicated.
• Support research on the development sector to identify research projects on the national, regional
and international level that Enroot could be engaged in.
• Understand the basics of M&E frameworks, including logframes, indicators, and result chains, to
support integration with research activities.
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
• Understand and apply basic M&E concepts such as logical frameworks, indicators, outcomes, and
impact measurement.
• Support the integration of M&E frameworks into research assignments where applicable.
• Assist in tracking project results and verifying alignment between research findings and M&E
indicators.
• Collaborate with project teams to ensure data collected supports both research and M&E needs.
• Contribute to documentation that supports project learning and accountability to stakeholders.
Project Management
• Support the development of workplans on research assignments and resources needed
• Support the research executive and department management in carrying out the operational,
logistical, financial, and administrative aspects of a research assignment throughout its lifecycle.
• Conduct fieldwork activities as needed.
• Contribute to client management
Team Collaboration
• Collaborate with the research team and other Enroot teams to achieve project objectives.
• Participate in the preparation of research deliverables for Enroot networking events and
conferences.
Required Qualifications:
• 3+ years of relative experience in the scope of Enroot Business
• University degree in Political Science, Economics, International Relations, Development Studies,
Public Policy or related disciplines.
• Excellent research and analytical skills to apply research methodologies and conduct secondary and
primary research.
• Strong writing skills, with experience in developing research studies.
• Familiarity with M&E concepts and development frameworks..
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with external stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
• Capacity for frequent travel to different governorates around Egypt.
